Laszlo Boros and Jacinta Ryan, Glass Art
We work in collaboration. Laszlo works with wood, metals and polished concrete, Jacinta with Glass.
We often work with found objects which are transformed into something entirely different.
Emotion and connection are central to our work. We each are inspired by the other's work which very much comes from the heart.
Laszlo is Hungarian. He has made Ireland his home for the past 10 years. An Interior Designer, an Artist and an Actor, Laszlo completed a four year course in Theatre studies in University in Novi Sad. His experience of inhabiting different Characters as an Actor, as well as that of Theatre Design has an enormous bearing on how he can see a finished piece of work
Jacinta's background is in Psychotherapy. Although always 'making things' she has had no formal training in Art. Having always had a fascination with glass and light, Jacinta was introduced to glass fusing by chance when she attended a weekend workshop three years ago taught by Michael Ray, and was immediately excited by the process. Apart from a course in lost wax cast glass taught by Fiaz Elson at Cork Sculpture Factory, she has learned everything that she knows about glass from Michael Ray. She is particularly influenced by Jung in her psychotherapy practice and by the Existential movement, and this spills over into and influences her approach to making glass.
Although we collaborate, neither of us knows what the finished piece will become. A clue from one of our pieces connects with the creativity of the other and informs the direction. Nature, Relationship and the World around us also influences our work. The finished piece takes on its own life.
